1-2 Perspectives on Information systems
*information system:
a set of interrelated components that collect, process, store, and distribute information to support decision making and control in an organization.

* what can information do ?
  1. IT can help mangers and workers analyze problems .
  2. visualize complex subjects.
  3. create new products.

*Information: data that have been shaped into aform that is meaningful and useful to human beings.
*Data: streams of raw facts representing events occurring in organization or the physical environment before they have been organized and arranged into a form that people can understand it.

*How we can produce the information?
there are 4 activites in IS produce the information .The 4activities are: input, processing and output, feedback.
Input: collect data(rows)from organization .
Processing: converts the inputs into more meanful form.
Output:transfors the processed information to the people eho will use it.
feedback: output which reaturned to appropriate members to the correct input.

*Computer-based information systems (CBIS)

*CBIS use computer technology to process raw data into meaningful information , tere is a big different between a computer and a computer program.
*computers provide the equipment for storing and processing information.Computer programs, or software , are sets of operating instuction that direct and control computer processing.
*information system: is an important instrument for creating value for creating value for the firms.IS enable the firm to increase its revenue or decrease its costs by providing information that helps managers make better decisions or that improves the execution of business processes.
*Every business has an information value chain information is systematically acquired and then transformed through various stages that add value to that information .
*Information systems literacy: includes a behavioural as well as a technical approach to studying IS.
*Computer literacy: it focuses primarily on knowledge of information technology..
